2020 JUVE Awards: We are “Law Firm of the Year Technology & Media” and “Law Firm of the Year IT & Data Protection”
A great honour for the team of Schürmann Rosenthal Dreyer Rechtsanwaelte: on the evening of 29 October, the Berlin-based technology law firm received the JUVE Award 2020 in the categories “Law Firm of the Year Technology & Media” and “Law Firm of the Year IT & Data Protection”. For the first time this year, the prestigious awards were presented via live video link.
For Schürmann Rosenthal Dreyer Rechtsanwaelte, it was the team’s first JUVE nomination as law firm of the year. So their delight at receiving this meaningful recognition is all the greater:
“During the coronavirus crisis, a lot of things had to be done very quickly, such as the German Federal Government’s Corona-Warn-App. Schürmann Rosenthal Dreyer made sure the app was watertight when it came to data protection law. This earned the Berlin tech boutique a high level of recognition, both in the market and at the political level. The fact that SRD was at the same time accompanying the Hasso Plattner Institute in its roll-out of the Schul-Cloud distance learning infrastructure in several federal states, was the icing on the cake,” said JUVE editor Anika Verfürth in the speech she made in SRD’s honour. She highlighted how the firm’s technical expertise helps clients to implement their visions for the future – for example, having outperformed competitors in the insurance and energy sectors when it came to AI and data protection-driven projects, and it has become a valued advisor on the subject of sensitive patient data in the healthcare sector, including for the Charité hospital.
“It was an insanely exciting and at the same time highly unusual year for all of us,” said partner Kathrin Schürmann. “In the Covid age, digitalization has never been more important. That’s why we are all the more pleased to be able to make a significant contribution here as a technology law firm.”
“This award is a special recognition of our performance in recent months and confirms that we are fully on track and on the right path,” added Simone Rosenthal, partner at Schürmann Rosenthal Dreyer Rechtsanwaelte. “This was all possible thanks to the work of our great team, and we are delighted to have been named Law Firm of the Year in the categories Technology and Media as well as IT and Data Protection.” The JUVE Awards are among the most important industry awards in the German legal market. Each year, they select law firms that have stood out over the past twelve months for their particularly dynamic development, great potential for the future, professional competence and strategic orientation. The nominations and winners are decided on the basis of exhaustive research which the JUVE editorial team conducts for its annual compendium of commercial law firms, which has long since become a reference work for the German commercial law market. When selecting the award winners, the JUVE editorial team relies on a survey of clients, competitors, junior lawyers and judges.
